Japan is a country known for its very rich culture, incredibly stunning architecture and delicious food. According to Skyscanner, it is also one of the fastest growing destinations for 2024 with an increase in search of over +200%. Nevertheless, there are three cities that stood out the most, Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto, all within the top 10 destinations for the USA, UK and Spain.
Airbnb also confirms Japan to be one of the trending and most searched for destinations for 2024 because of its blend of modernity and tradition. They rank Osaka as the third most searched for place, Kyoto as the fourth and Tokyo the fifteenth.
Traveling to Japan for foodies
In order: weather, food, culture, experiencing historical tours and spending time at the beach are the biggest decision-making factors when planning a trip, says Skyscanner. In this case, visiting Japan checks most of these boxes, however, food is the highlighted reason.
Japan’s biggest cities rank pretty high on the Michelin Guide, Tokyo being the city with the most michelin-starred restaurants in the world with 203, Kyoto coming third with 108 and Osaka in fourth with 96. Be that as it may, Osaka is the city nicknamed “The Kitchen of Japan”.

However, Booking has a median of 250 Euros for three nights at a hotel. All of these seem like very reasonable prices for a long trip to Japan.

Another interesting and popular trend in Japan is the winter travel and holiday trips to Hokkaido, known for its ski resorts. Club Med, one of the global leaders in snow vacations and all-inclusive premium holiday experiences, released their 2023 Asia Snow Report which displays Japan to be one of the top winter holiday destinations this year. From food to skiing, Japan is one of the top trends for 2024 with rising tourism opportunities.
